Sorry, old blog, but I don’t think it’s working out.  I don’t really want to update this thing anymore.  Maybe in the future I’ll change my mind but for now I’m gonna shutter this thing.

Korean blog

See, I didn't completely waste my time over there

As I mentioned in the title, my new blog is written in Korean.  Why?  Well, I went off to Korea for a couple years and spent a lot of time and effort trying to learn the language.  A friend of mine suggested I start writing a diary in Korean to retain what I learned; I told her this was stupid and I’d write a blog instead.  My language ability is at the level of a four year-old Korean kid with learning problems, so I’m forced to keep my posts short and include a lot of pictures.  Mostly it’s been about Couchsurfing and my travel pics, with some random shit thrown in every now and then.  If you can read Korean, or you just want to look at my pictures, check it out:

The Wandering Groo

I’m still alive

January 22, 2010

Not that anyone cares, but I was out of the country for a couple years and didn’t feel like adding anything to this blog.  It’s weird that WordPress kept it around, actually, but I guess it wasn’t too much of a drain on their servers anyway.  I don’t know if I want to write stuff on here again because frankly, it was kind of a pain coming up with stuff to write way back when.  This might well be the last post on here, or it might be the beginning of a new series.  Stay tuned and find out.

A bit late, but I’ll put it up anyway: the Quebec police have admitted that the anarchist guys captured on tape were cops (see the Toronto Star for details). However, while they admit those three were indeed undercover agents, the SQ states that they were only found out because the men refused to participate in violence and that the reason one officer was carrying a rock was because a protester handed it to him. Needless to say, one only has to watch the video to know this is complete and utter bullshit. The crowd and the organizer was trying to get the police agents to leave and were trying to keep them away from the line of riot police. Hell, even Ottawa’s Chief of Police stated (before the SQ’s admission) that the conduct of the men on that video is highly suspicious. I really hope an independent inquiry is carried out because if this thing only goes to an internal review it will get quietly buried.

In honour of this event I’m introducing a new tag, “Fuck tha police;” I hope its use will be fairly self-evident. If you still think the SQ isn’t full of shit then I suggest you watch the video again.

(Incidentally, I couldn’t figure out how to type those accents in the SQ’s name and had to copy and paste it from elsewhere. This is also the reason why I keep calling them the SQ.)

Note to self

August 10, 2007

When I started this thingamablog I thought I’d write more often on serious matters. A month later and it’s mostly scattered stuff about pop culture ephemera with no outstanding insights. I’m kind of annoyed at myself for doing this but I guess I am writing what I know. In the future I’ll try to write about more interesting stuff and actually include an original thought or two. Anyway, to make up for the shallow focus on pointless pop culture riffs, here’s more of the same: a clip of Stevie Wonder playing “Superstition” on Sesame Street. Check out the fake ending and the red-shirted kid having a funkilepsy.

No update

August 2, 2007

I haven’t updated in a bit but this time I have an actual excuse.  For the past week I was out of town and didn’t really have access to a computer, plus I didn’t really feel like writing anything.  I’ll try and put something up tomorrow or the day after, possibly on the new Harry Potter (which I actually ended up reading).

BayImg is down

July 12, 2007

Either my image host is out of order or they got tired of all my Burt Reynolds pictures and banned me. So, unfortunately, no one can see the pretty pictures in my posts. By “no one”, I mean me, since I’m the only one who reads this blog, plus maybe a couple people who were looking for “Audrey Hepburn + decapitations”. If the pics are still gone tomorrow I swear I’ll, uh, wait some more and hope the situation resolves itself.

Update: BayImg is back as of today, July 13. I knew passively waiting and hoping for the best would pay off.
